I love how this outfit came together, and it follows the fashion philosophy of Stacy and Clinton from TLC’s “What Not to Wear.” Stacy and Clinton always emphasized that an outfit should include texture, pattern and shine. I loved that show and really miss it! Today’s outfit is in their honor…
I recently bought this cute red top at the Banana Republic outlet and it was only $12. I wore it with my black leather Anthropology skirt (shine) and my black quilted cardigan from Nordstrom (texture). I then added my leopard and lace Tory Burch pumps (pattern). I finished the look with a couple of bracelets, including a leopard wrap bracelet from Charming Charlie (pattern) and a few Kate Spade bangles, and my black quilted patent leather Tory Burch tote bag (texture and shine).
Homework: How would you mix texture, pattern and shine?
I spent the weekend at Disneyland. It’s an annual tradition with some of my best friends(this was our 8th year). On Saturday, we spent the entire day at California Adventure. It was so much fun! We went on all the best rides and enjoyed all the tourist traps. Soarin’ Over California is my absolute favorite ride in the park. We ended the day watching World of Color, and it was amazing, as usual. On Sunday morning, we headed to Downtown Disney and had brunch at the Jazz Kitchen. The chicken and waffles was to die for!
Now on to my outfits…
On Saturday, I wore my Joe’s boyfriend jeans with my black and white heart print tank top from Banana Republic. I just added my straw fedora, a black and white animal print cross body purse, and Tory Burch sandals.
On Sunday, I continued with the black and white theme and wore my white Gap boyfriend jeans with a black flower embellished tank from Banana Republic. I added the same accessories to this outfit… shoes, hat and purse. It made packing super easy!
I wish I had a picture of the outfit I wore down to the hotel bar on Saturday night. I didn’t pack an extra outfit for the evening and I had been in my Disney ensemble for about 15 hours. I had to get out of my jeans! I only had my black Gap pajamas… Well, I wore them with confidence. No one even knew they were pajamas, because they look like loungewear and I added some fun jewelry to dress up the ensemble, black pants and a tank top. It was a make it work moment!
I am in love with this black and white striped “ciao” sweater from the Banana Republic outlet. The day I was there, everything in the store was 50% off, so the sweater was only $25. It’s so cute and versatile. Today, I layered it with my Gap denim work shirt and my black leather Anthropolgy skirt. I always have to have more than one pattern in the mix, so my leopard and lace Tory Butch pumps added just the right amount of interest to the outfit. A few bracelets, including a Charming Charlie leopard wrap and Banana Republic red enamel bangle, were the finishing touches.
This sweater works well for work, but will also look adorable with jeans and my leopard ballet flats.
Homework: It’s Friday, take the night off!
Today, I wanted to wear my new black pleated midi skirt that I bought at the Banana Republic outlet for $20. Get used to it, because I will be wearing it a lot this season! This type of skirt can be unflattering for my body type. It’s all about choosing the right shirt. It can’t be too long or too short, and it needs to fitted in order to be flattering. I decided to wear my new favorite skirt with a black and white stripped sleeveless t-shirt from Old Navy and bright yellow short-sleeved cardigan from Ann Taylor Loft. I finished the outfit with my Tory Burch leopard and lace pumps and a huge black ribbon and rhinestone statement necklace from Banana Republic.

I’m still working on wearing all my new fall purchases. So for a casual Saturday night out, I debuted another one of my Nordstrom Anniversary sale purchases, a Vince Camuto maroon and ivory plaid sweatshirt. This sweatshirt had solids maroon sleeves and the plaid portion in the front is sheer. I wanted a simple and comfortable outfit for dinner with friends, so I wore this cute new top with my Joe’s boyfriend jeans and my black Tory Burch Reva’s. My favorite accessories to add to any plaid shirt are pearls and a monogram. As a result, I added my gold “H” monogram necklace from C. Wonder and my vintage Chanel button ring. I can see myself wearing this sweatshirt on a Friday with a black pencil skirt with heels and then slipping on jeans and flats to head out to dinner and drinks.
Homework: What is your favorite accessory to wear with plaid?
I had such a fun weekend! I headed down to San Diego for a birthday celebration on Saturday night. Of course, that led to brunch on Sunday morning to debrief the soirée. The party was in Hillcrest, so we walked a few blocks to a cute little restaurant for breakfast. I packed my white Gap boyfriend jeans and a black j’adore graphic t-shirt from Old Navy for Sunday. I wore them with a Coach leopard hat, a pink Kate Spade bracelet, and my black Tory Burch sandals. I always pack a hat when I travel, just in case of a bad hair day. Let’s just say, I’m glad that I had it! The outfit worked well for brunch and outlet shopping on the way home. Details on my shopping purchases will be shared this week!
Homework: What is your favorite brunch outfit?
Last night I celebrated a dear friends birthday down in San Diego. The invitation for the party stated the dress code was “dive bar casual.” I knew I would start with my Joe’s boyfriend jeans, as they are perfect dive bar attire. I then added a black, gold-studded Michael Kors t-shirt and my hot pink Kendra Scott tassel necklace. Next, I piled on the Kate Spade bracelets and put on my leopard and lace Tory Burch pumps. I was ready to go! It was a fun outfit and a great party to celebrate my friend Duane’s birthday!
Homework: What would you wear to a “dive bar casual” party?
This hot pink, bee print shirt from Banana Republic is just too cute! I seriously can’t even handle it. I wore it to work last week with a pencil skirt and knew it would look equally adorable on the weekend. I wore it to a casual party with my white Gap boyfriend jeans and my black Tory Burch sandals. I stacked on a few Kate Spade bracelets and my gold hoop earrings and I was ready for the party. I love adding items to my wardrobe that can be dressed up for work and can also be worn with casual pieces on the weekend.
Homework: What would you wear with this bee print shirt?
Backstory: In high school and college, my mom owned a company called Unbearably Good and my nickname was Heidi Bear. I gave up the personalized license plates, but I’m still drawn to cute teddy bears every now and again!
Current story: So I was shopping in Forever 21 with my friend Stephanie, and of all sudden I heard her yell, “You’re welcome,” from across the store while waving this adorable sweatshirt in the air. I knew I had to have it. This bear has serious swag! Plus, it was only $20. Today, I wore it with my white boyfriend jeans and a denim work shirt, with the collar popped, both from Gap. All I needed was my trusty gold hoop earrings and my nude Tory Burch bow flats to complete the look.
Homework: Enjoy the rest of this holiday weekend!
It’s a perfect day sequins and seersucker! Today, I’m wearing my favorite SJP Bitten seersucker pants with a bright yellow tank with tone on tone sequin stripes from the Banana Republic outlet. It’s such a fun combination! I layered a white tank from Old Navy under the yellow tank to add dimension. My nude Tory Burch bow flats and my C. Wonder pearl studs were all I needed to complete the outfit. It’s a perfect combination for a Saturday outing!
Homework: Take weekend off and enjoy! Happy Labor Day!
