Dress Code: Honoring Red Ribbon Week

imageI’ve been waiting almost a year to wear this graphic t-shirt! I found this anti-drug muscle t-shirt at Forever 21 last year, about a week after Red Ribbon Week, an annual event in October that promotes a healthy lifestyle and no drug use. It was on $12.99 and I had to have it! I knew I would wear it the day of our Red Ribbon assembly. I decided to wear the shirt with my H & M leopard print “Hammer” pants and a vintage Classiques black blazer from Nordstrom. It was a fun outfit with a great message!

Homework: Do you have a favorite graphic t-shirt?

Dress Code: On Wednesday’s we wear hot pink and leopard

imageI wear my leopard “MC” Hammer pants from H & M on days I know are going to be super busy. They are so comfortable, almost like pajamas! Today, I wore them with a simple black tunic from the Brass Plum at Nordstrom and my Coach wedges. If I wear these pants with flats, they look really casual. As soon as I add a heel or wedge, it instantly dresses up the pants and makes them appropriate for work. To complete my look for the school day, I added my hot pink Kendra Scott tassel necklace and a hot pink Kate Spade bangle bracelet. If I’m wearing leopard and black, I almost always add hot pink as an accent color. It’s such a fun color combination!

Dress Code: Eyelet and leopard meets party fuchsia

imageHere’s a super cute and casual outfit for running errands and lunching or brunching with friends. Yes, I’m still obsessed with my $17 H&M leopard “MC Hammer” pants. They are so comfortable… Seriously, it’s like wearing your pajamas in public! When my friend Stephanie bought her “Hammer” pants last year, I teased her saying it was a slippery slope, maybe she would get too comfortable. Now, I can’t stop wearing mine. I take it all back! To dress up my public pj’s, I added an ivory eyelet t-shirt from the Ann Taylor Loft sale rack and my new favorite Tory Burch “party fuchsia” Reva’s. You are going to be seeing a lot of these shoes. I love them and at $145 they were a great deal at the Desert Hills outlet! I kept the accessories simple by only adding a two-toned pink bangle from Forever 21 and my C. Wonder pink gem studs. It’s the perfect daytime, running around town outfit.

Homework: Would you wear “Hammer” pants?

Dress Code: Outlet shopping in style!

imageLast week I spent two days in the desert with two of my college sorority sisters. We thought it would be fun to hit the Desert Hills outlets and spend the night at Casino Morongo. We had a great time! We picked up a few really good deals and shared a ton of laughs.

On day one of shopping, I wore my favorite Bitten seersucker pants. They are lightweight and perfect for the desert heat. I wore them with a $5 black tube top I bought last week at H&M. The tube top was perfect for trying on clothes. In most stores I just put tops and sweaters over the tube top, which made for quick shopping since I didn’t have to go into the dressing room! My black Tory Burch sandals and my new Kate Spade initial necklace completed the outfit. I added my trusty beach market fedora after we were done shopping.

On day two of shopping, I wore my Joe’s boyfriend jeans with an eyelet top from Old Navy. I wore a neon pink lace cami under the eyelet top, so, of course, I had to add my Kendra’s Scott necklace. I wore the same sandals and hat with this outfit. It was actually a little cold this day, so this outfit was perfect.

I bought two pairs of Tory Burch flats at the TB outlet… One pair of party fuchsia Reva’s and a pair of nude patent leather bow flats. I’m in love with both pairs of shoes!

I bought a ton of cardigans! I added three more short-sleeved cardigans from Ann Taylor Loft to my collection. They were only $15 each. I bought a yellow, red, and another black one, since I’ve worn the heck out of the one I have! The J. Crew outlet had the best deals. Everything on the sale rack was an additional 60% off. That
means $12 cardigans and a few other good deals. Banana Republic is usually a gold mine at the outlets. I found a couple of things, but overall was disappointed.

imageI won $70 playing penny slots at the casino, so on day two, I went back to the Kate Spade outlet to buy two bracelets and a necklace… They were free with my winnings!

I try to hit the outlets a few times a year. I never know what I will find! I try to be smart and not get carried away just because something is cheap. I really
liked that we had all day on Wednesday to shop and then we went back for a quick trip on Thursday to buy the things we were still thinking about! We would also have had an opportunity to return purchases we regretted… That didn’t happen! We were happy with all we bought!

Homework: What would you wear to outlet shop?

Dress Code: Leopard and stripes x 2!

imageI just realized I rocked stripes and leopard two times this week. I knew I was headed out to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and I needed a fun outfit that would work for school and the birthday party. I wore my trusty Nordstrom black pencil skirt with a black and white striped tank top from Banana Republic’s sale rack. I added my favorite leopard utility jacket from Forever 21 and my Coach wedges. I really piled on the bling today. I wore a leopard statement necklace from Charming Charlie with a simple rhinestone necklace from the Banana Republic factory store. My bracelets ranged from a real gold braided bracelet that I have had forever, to a $2.80 Forever 21 “hello” cuff, my new purchase from David Yurman, and two Kate Spade favorites. It was fun mixing my high-low jewelry purchases.

imageAnother day I wore a black pencil skirt from Ann Taylor Loft with a black and tan striped long sleeved t-shirt from H&M. I added my new Stella and Dot red leopard scarf and I was good to go! By the way, this same scarf doubled as a bathing suit cover up when I was in Vegas.

Homework: Have you accepted that leopard is a neutral?

Dress Code: Floral Friday!

imageSometimes I have to put myself on shopping probation! I recently cleaned out my closet and then I hit the outlets on the way to Vegas. I restocked my closet and needed to lock down my spending for a while. When I was organizing my new purchases, I found this cute floral dress from H&M that I bought for $20 last year and never wore. I tried it on and knew it would be perfect with my favorite pink C. Wonder flats. I spent the previous 14 hour day in heels and I needed a day in comfortable flat shoes. I added some fun pearls and I was ready for floral Friday! Dresses are the best! One quick and easy piece and you are good to go!

Homework: How many dresses do you own?

Dress Code: Feeling Patriotic!

imageToday I wanted to wear a couple of new purchases. It just ended up as an American salute. I bought this red and blue striped academy blazer at The Gap and it was a steal for $18. I paired with a simple, white eyelet t-shirt I scored at a Banana Republic sale. For added texture, I wore my favorite knit navy blue skirt from H&M. Sadly, this is the last time I will be wearing this skirt. I have lost some weight and when I saw some pictures from a school event in the evening, I realized it was just too big. I passed it on to friend and hope she wears it as much as I did. I added all my favorite jewelry, including my big navy ring and matching earrings from Banana Republic. I love my monogrammed “H” bracelet for C. Wonder. I am now in need of a new navy skirt. If you see one, let me know!

Homework: How do you rock red, white, and blue?

Dress Code: A tiara for my neck!

imageToday I wore a black H & M shift dress with this amazing statement necklace from Banana Republic. I stumbled upon this necklace in the sale section and was so excited to find out it was $26. I had a meeting at the district office, and when I arrived, the receptionist complimented my necklace and then said it looked like a tiara for me neck. What a fabulous compliment! I love a good tiara :). When I was a high school Activities Director and Assistant Principal, I always tried on the homecoming and prom queen tiaras and sashes…and yes, there was usually a Facebook picture! too. Of course, the caption read, “and the prom queen is…. “

Homework: What is your favorite princess look?
