Dress Code: Honoring Red Ribbon Week

imageI’ve been waiting almost a year to wear this graphic t-shirt! I found this anti-drug muscle t-shirt at Forever 21 last year, about a week after Red Ribbon Week, an annual event in October that promotes a healthy lifestyle and no drug use. It was on $12.99 and I had to have it! I knew I would wear it the day of our Red Ribbon assembly. I decided to wear the shirt with my H & M leopard print “Hammer” pants and a vintage Classiques black blazer from Nordstrom. It was a fun outfit with a great message!

Homework: Do you have a favorite graphic t-shirt?

Dress Code: Could I be wearing any more accessories?

imageToday was all about the accessories! I wore my black and white, geometric print pleated skirt from Banana Republic with my black and gold studded Michael Kor’s t-shirt. Then I started piling on a ton of fun jewelry. I liked the way yesterday’s necklaces looked, so I found three more to wear together. I started with a long gold mini tassel necklace from C. Wonder, then added a single tassel pendant necklace from Ann Taylor, and finished the look with a vintage Chanel button charm that I bought at a Christmas boutique. The bracelets came next! I started with my hot pink, Kate Spade leather bow bracelet for a pop if color. A few more Kate Spade bangles and a multi-strand leather and chain bracelet from Forever 21 created the perfect arm party! Lots of accessories for a fun day!

Dress Code: On Wednesday’s we wear pearls, pearls, and more pearls!

imageLast week our school photographer was on campus for three days taking school pictures. My goal was to take a picture each day and then pick the best one. Sadly, I missed my window of opportunity each day. Today, was the make up picture day, so I needed a fabulous outfit that would look great for my one take. I decided to go for a classic look with an LBD and pearls. I wore my black shirt-sleeved shift dress from Anthropology and then piled on the pearls. My long C. Wonder pearl necklace is extremely versatile. Today, I’m wearing it as a triple stand with another pearl necklace with a bow detail from Ann Taylor Loft. I added some stretchy pearl bracelets from Forever 21 my vintage Chanel button ring, and my C. Wonder pearl stud earrings.

Homework: What would you wear on picture day?

Dress Code: Teddy bear swag on a Sunday!

imageBackstory: In high school and college, my mom owned a company called Unbearably Good and my nickname was Heidi Bear. I gave up the personalized license plates, but I’m still drawn to cute teddy bears every now and again!

Current story: So I was shopping in Forever 21 with my friend Stephanie, and of all sudden I heard her yell, “You’re welcome,” from across the store while waving this adorable sweatshirt in the air. I knew I had to have it. This bear has serious swag! Plus, it was only $20. Today, I wore it with my white boyfriend jeans and a denim work shirt, with the collar popped, both from Gap. All I needed was my trusty gold hoop earrings and my nude Tory Burch bow flats to complete the look.

Homework: Enjoy the rest of this holiday weekend!

Dress Code: Ready to head back to school!

imageI am so excited for this school year; I can’t contain my school spirit! Today, I’m wearing my favorite black, a-line skirt from Banana Republic with a raspberry and white striped, boat neck tank top from Ann Taylor. I topped the look with a charcoal gray leopard print cardigan and a flowered headband from Forever 21. My silver and bling necklace is also from Ann Taylor and my bow sunnies are Chanel.

Now I just need to find a first day of school dress!

Homework: Describe your perfect first day if school outfit.

Dress Code: Eyelet and leopard meets party fuchsia

imageHere’s a super cute and casual outfit for running errands and lunching or brunching with friends. Yes, I’m still obsessed with my $17 H&M leopard “MC Hammer” pants. They are so comfortable… Seriously, it’s like wearing your pajamas in public! When my friend Stephanie bought her “Hammer” pants last year, I teased her saying it was a slippery slope, maybe she would get too comfortable. Now, I can’t stop wearing mine. I take it all back! To dress up my public pj’s, I added an ivory eyelet t-shirt from the Ann Taylor Loft sale rack and my new favorite Tory Burch “party fuchsia” Reva’s. You are going to be seeing a lot of these shoes. I love them and at $145 they were a great deal at the Desert Hills outlet! I kept the accessories simple by only adding a two-toned pink bangle from Forever 21 and my C. Wonder pink gem studs. It’s the perfect daytime, running around town outfit.

Homework: Would you wear “Hammer” pants?

Dress Code: Camo and lavender

imageMy new camo shirt/jacket is very versatile. I love that I can wear it buttoned up as a shirt or unbuttoned as a jacket. I especially love that I paid less than $2 for it, thanks to a gift card from my mom, at Forever 21. It was $25, so I only had to pay the tax. Thanks, mom! I wore it with my super bright lavender khaki pants from Gap. Remember, these pants were $5.97 and then I got 30% off. One of my best deals! I love the contrast between the camo and lavender, so I added a simple black tank top from Old Navy, my black Tory Burch Reva’s, and several gold necklaces to fancy it up.

Homework: What color would you pair with camo?

Dress Code: Traveling, Vegas style!

So, I went back to Vegas for a couple of days this week. I love it there and this was a super fun trip. I always pick my travel outfits carefully. I want to be comfortable and stylish… and warm. I’m always cold on airplanes.

image
For this trip, I wore a black strapless dress that I picked up at Old Navy for $15. It was a great base, and I knew it would be perfect once we landed. Since planes are usually cold for me, layers are important. This camo shirt is perfect as a lightweight jacket. I picked it up at Forever 21 for $25. I wore my fedora since it’s difficult to pack and my black Tory Burch sandals. When we arrived in Vegas, I took off the camo shirt and the dress with the fedora was perfect for the Vegas heat!

For the plane ride home, I wore a navy blue maxi dress that I bought at Old Navy for $15. I added my new Kendra Scott emerald green earrings that I picked up at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. The rest of the outfit was recycled from my previous outfit. The camo shirt, sandals, and fedora worked great with this dress, too. The airport was super cold, so I was so glad I had the long-sleeved shirt with me.

I used my black Tory Burch tote bag as my carry on and it held two of my C. Wonder clutches inside. I used one clutch as my IPad case and one as a purse. It gave me options as I could easily switch out the clutches, depending on my outfit. I also had a few magazines and snacks 🙂

Homework: What is your go-to travel outfit?

Dress Code: Seersucker and lace puts a smile on my face!

imageSummer dressing is so much fun! Today, I decided to honor the lovely weather with seersucker and pastel lace. These seersucker pants are preppy and classic. They always make me smile. You might remember from an earlier post, that these pants are from Sarah Jessica Parker’s Bitten line and were only $14. I found this pastel pink lace topped t-shirt at Forever 21 for less than $20. I thought my gold Tory Burch ballet flats were the perfect match for this outfit. Adding my camo clutch and pearl studs from C. Wonder and some wrist bling completed the look.
