Dress Code: On Wednesday’s we wear camo and fancy baubles!

imageI eyed this Bauble Bar statement necklace at Nordstrom for the last couple of months… and now it’s mine.

Funny story, I went to Nordstrom last weekend to return two bracelets that I bought during the summer Anniversary Sale. The bracelets were really cute, but would not stay closed. I thought I paid the sale price of $17.99 for each bracelet, but when the sales associate looked up my purchase, it turned out I paid $28 for each bracelet. This amazing Bauble Bar statement necklace was on sale for $30, and since I returned the two bracelets, it was technically FREE! Yay!

I wanted to wear this necklace with something fun, so of course, I pulled out my favorite Gap camo khakis. I paired them with a black tunic from Brass Plum at Nordstrom and my Coach wedges. I added a few Kate Spade bracelets and I was ready for a great day.

Dress Code: Stripes and initials

imageToday, I wore a really simple navy and maroon jersey striped dress that I recently bought at the Gap factory store at the Carlsbad outlet mall. The dress was only $30 and it’s a great grab and go option. It’s perfect for mornings when I need to get ready at the gym, since it doesn’t wrinkle and will roll up nicely in my gym bag. Since the dress is rather plain, I decided to play with necklaces of varying lengths. I wore three of my favorites and I think they really compliment one another. I layered my Kate Spade “one in a million” initial disk necklace with my Coach heart locket, and my C. Wonder “H” script necklace. I love the way the necklaces make the dress stand out! Now I’m looking at all my necklaces and trying to figure out other combinations to layer together.

Dress Code: On Wednesday’s we wear hot pink and leopard

imageI wear my leopard “MC” Hammer pants from H & M on days I know are going to be super busy. They are so comfortable, almost like pajamas! Today, I wore them with a simple black tunic from the Brass Plum at Nordstrom and my Coach wedges. If I wear these pants with flats, they look really casual. As soon as I add a heel or wedge, it instantly dresses up the pants and makes them appropriate for work. To complete my look for the school day, I added my hot pink Kendra Scott tassel necklace and a hot pink Kate Spade bangle bracelet. If I’m wearing leopard and black, I almost always add hot pink as an accent color. It’s such a fun color combination!

Dress Code: Happy fall, y’all!

imageI made a decision this week. I’m over the summer-like weather and officially dressing for fall. I have so many cute fall purchases ready and waiting to be worn. Today, I needed a two for one outfit; a daytime and evening look. For school, I wore my Vince Camuto black, leather trimmed leggings from last year’s Nordstrom Anniversary sale with a short- sleeved black sweater that I picked up from the Banana Republic outlet last weekend. I knew I needed a pop if color, so I added my hot pink Kendra Scott tassel necklace, my hot pink Kate Spade bangle and my new Stacy Brown Design monogram beaded bracelet. My Coach wedges completed the look. Fridays are made for leggings and comfy sweaters!

imageAfter school, I was headed to a high school football game. Since I was going to be on the field, my open-toed wedges were not going to work. All I needed to do was switch out my shoes for my Enzo Angiolini riding boots. I bought these boots at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale in July and this was my first opportunity to wear them. The boots are super cute and comfortable and I know I will be wearing them a lot this season.

Homework: What are most excited to wear this fall season?

Dress Code: leopard+hot pink+monogram=fabulous

imageLeopard, hot pink, and a monogram… I love it when all my favorite things come together in one outfit! Even though it is still rather hot out, I decided to dress for fall and wear one of my new favorite sweaters. I bought this leopard print sweater a few weeks ago at the Banana Republic outlet for $25. Since it was a warm day, I didn’t layer it with anything. I do think it will look really chic with my denim worksheet underneath when it get a little chilly. This cute sweater paired perfectly with my classic Halogen black pencil from Nordstrom and my Coach wedges. I decided to skip the necklace and pile on the bracelets. I was really excited about wearing my new Stacy Brown Design tassels monogram beaded bracelet. It’s adorable and it was only $19.99. I added a coral and pink bangle from Banana Republic with a hot pink bangle from Kate Spade. The orange and hot pink accessories gave this outfit just the right pop of color!

Homework: What will you wear on the first cool day of fall?

Dress Code: Sunday = fun day!

imageI had such a fun weekend! I headed down to San Diego for a birthday celebration on Saturday night. Of course, that led to brunch on Sunday morning to debrief the soirée. The party was in Hillcrest, so we walked a few blocks to a cute little restaurant for breakfast. I packed my white Gap boyfriend jeans and a black j’adore graphic t-shirt from Old Navy for Sunday. I wore them with a Coach leopard hat, a pink Kate Spade bracelet, and my black Tory Burch sandals. I always pack a hat when I travel, just in case of a bad hair day. Let’s just say, I’m glad that I had it! The outfit worked well for brunch and outlet shopping on the way home. Details on my shopping purchases will be shared this week!

Homework: What is your favorite brunch outfit?

Dress Code: Coral and stripes and everything nice!

imageWe are still experiencing a heat wave and it is sooooooo hot! My short sleeved cardigans come in handy when the heat is rising. They keep me cool and covered up. Today, I wore a coral short-sleeved cardigan from Ann Taylor Loft with a black and white striped a-line pleated dress from Banana Republic. The best part of this dress is that it has pockets! To kick the outfit up a notch, I added a coral statement necklace from Banana Republic and it matched the cardigan perfectly! My Coach wedges finished off the look. This dress makes a very bold statement, so I don’t wear it very often. When I do wear it, I always get compliments.

Homework: what would you wear to work during a heat wave?

Dress Code: On Wednesday’s we are minty fresh!

imageWe are experiencing quite the heat wave in sunny Southern California this week. It’s hot, but air conditioners are on blast, so layers are a must. You need to be ready for both extremes, indoors or outdoors. Today, I wore my black and tan polka dot sundress from Ann Taylor with a mint green cardigan from J. Crew. I love the huge bow that can be made from this dress’ sash. I added a mint green ombré pendant necklace that perfectly matched my cardigan and my Coach wedges and I was ready for a busy day.

Homework: How do you dress for the extreme heat and air conditioning?

Dress Code: One LBD… two ways

imageLast night was my school’s Back to School. I knew I wasn’t going to have time to go home and change between the end of the school day and the start of the evening event, so I needed to get creative. I decided to use my black sheath dress from Banana Republic as a base and create two unique outfits with it.

For my daytime look(on the left), I wore the dress with a black bow belt from Banana Republic and my black and tan Cole Hahn spectator wedges. I completed the outfit with a neon geometric cardigan from Gap and my hot pink Kendra’s Scott tassel necklace. It was a perfect school day outfit.

Right before Back to School Night, I made a quick switch-a-roo! I swapped out the cardigan out for a black and white fitted blazer and then changed to a leopard print belt. I love mixing stripes and leopard. I then added a hot pink statement necklace, which makes this entire outfit from Banana Republic. The only non-Banana item was my Coach wedges. This outfit was professional and polished. My walkie talkie and clipboard completed the look!

Using a simple black dress as a base was an easy solution for two events in one day. I’m glad I didn’t have to pack a separate outfit in a garment bag, drag it to school, and then find a place to hang it during the day.

Homework: What do you have in your closet that can do double duty for daytime and evening events?

Dress Code: On Wednesday’s we wear necklaces that would make Mr. T jealous

imageToday I wore my awesome “Mr. T” statement necklace. Each time I wear it I want to say, “I pity the fool who doesn’t own a fabulous necklace like this one,” in Mr. T’s voice. This necklace is so amazing, it needs a simple backdrop so it stands out even more. I decided to wear it with my best LBD from Anthropology and my black Coach wedges. This outfit is classic, with a edge! I’m so glad I parked outside of the Off 5th Saks 5th Avenue outlet and cut through to get to Banana Republic. During this short cut, this necklace caught my eye and it was only $34. I knew I had to have it!

Homework: How would you wear this “Mr. T” style necklace?
