Dress Code: Could I be wearing any more accessories?

imageToday was all about the accessories! I wore my black and white, geometric print pleated skirt from Banana Republic with my black and gold studded Michael Kor’s t-shirt. Then I started piling on a ton of fun jewelry. I liked the way yesterday’s necklaces looked, so I found three more to wear together. I started with a long gold mini tassel necklace from C. Wonder, then added a single tassel pendant necklace from Ann Taylor, and finished the look with a vintage Chanel button charm that I bought at a Christmas boutique. The bracelets came next! I started with my hot pink, Kate Spade leather bow bracelet for a pop if color. A few more Kate Spade bangles and a multi-strand leather and chain bracelet from Forever 21 created the perfect arm party! Lots of accessories for a fun day!

Dress Code: Mad for plaid and a monogram

imageI’m still working on wearing all my new fall purchases. So for a casual Saturday night out, I debuted another one of my Nordstrom Anniversary sale purchases, a Vince Camuto maroon and ivory plaid sweatshirt. This sweatshirt had solids maroon sleeves and the plaid portion in the front is sheer. I wanted a simple and comfortable outfit for dinner with friends, so I wore this cute new top with my Joe’s boyfriend jeans and my black Tory Burch Reva’s. My favorite accessories to add to any plaid shirt are pearls and a monogram. As a result, I added my gold “H” monogram necklace from C. Wonder and my vintage Chanel button ring. I can see myself wearing this sweatshirt on a Friday with a black pencil skirt with heels and then slipping on jeans and flats to head out to dinner and drinks.

Homework: What is your favorite accessory to wear with plaid?

Dress Code: On Wednesday’s we wear pearls, pearls, and more pearls!

imageLast week our school photographer was on campus for three days taking school pictures. My goal was to take a picture each day and then pick the best one. Sadly, I missed my window of opportunity each day. Today, was the make up picture day, so I needed a fabulous outfit that would look great for my one take. I decided to go for a classic look with an LBD and pearls. I wore my black shirt-sleeved shift dress from Anthropology and then piled on the pearls. My long C. Wonder pearl necklace is extremely versatile. Today, I’m wearing it as a triple stand with another pearl necklace with a bow detail from Ann Taylor Loft. I added some stretchy pearl bracelets from Forever 21 my vintage Chanel button ring, and my C. Wonder pearl stud earrings.

Homework: What would you wear on picture day?

Dress Code: Ready to head back to school!

imageI am so excited for this school year; I can’t contain my school spirit! Today, I’m wearing my favorite black, a-line skirt from Banana Republic with a raspberry and white striped, boat neck tank top from Ann Taylor. I topped the look with a charcoal gray leopard print cardigan and a flowered headband from Forever 21. My silver and bling necklace is also from Ann Taylor and my bow sunnies are Chanel.

Now I just need to find a first day of school dress!

Homework: Describe your perfect first day if school outfit.

Dress Code: On Wednesday’s we wear hot pink and camo!

imageI love pink, bows and camo, so, of course, I ❤️ this outfit! Figuring out new ways to wear these camo khakis from Gap, is a challenge I willingly accept. This week I added this adorable pink bow tank top from Banana Republic and I was done! My Coach wedges, C. Wonder clutch, and a few bracelets completed the outfit. Oh, and my Chanel sunnies take any outfit to the next level. Effortless and chic!

Homework: What would you wear with camo khakis?

Dress Code: A scarf as vest… it’s the best!

imageMy spin buddy, Amy, is a Stella and Dot rep and when she saw a picture of me in this red leopard S&D scarf, she promised to show me how to wear it as a vest. I was so excited to learn this trick. Click here for a simple tutorial. Amy showed me live, but I needed a refresher when I went to create it myself.

I was meeting a friend for a movie so I wore my scarf/vest with a simple black t-shirt from Banana Republic and my Joe’s boyfriend jeans. My new mixed metal statement necklace from Banana Republic added the perfect finishing touch with my Chanel sunnies.

This outfit was a little more boho than I am used to, but it was fun to be outside of my comfort zone. I love that I can wear my scarves this way. I think the scarf/vest would make a great bathing suit cover up.

Homework: How would you style this scarf/vest?

Dress Code: on Wednesday’s we wear pink tweed and bling!

imageI love pink tweed, and hot pink tweed is even better! I found this skirt at Ann Taylor and I love it! I paired it with a simple black 3/4 sleeve t-shirt with zipper details at the shoulder, also from Ann Taylor. Since the outfit was pretty basic, I piled on the bling! My Chanel button necklace, and tassel necklaces from Stella and Dot and Ann Taylor were necessary additions. My favorite Kate Spade bracelets were the perfect arm candy. My absolute favorite says, “Escape the Ordinary.” All I had to do was throw on my Coach wedges and I was ready for the day.

Homework: How do you wear tweed?

Dress Code: On Wednesay’s We Wear Chanel

imageI have been dying to wear my favorite broach and needed just the perfect outfit to wear with it. I went shopping in my closet and found a great sleeveless LBD from J. Crew and paired with with an electric blue shrunken blazer from Banana Republic’s sale rack. I honestly don’t think I have ever bought anything full price at Banana! I piled on a bunch of silver and pearl necklaces and added the Chanel pin. I bought the pin for myself several years ago when I was on my weight lose journey. I awarded myself special prizes when I hit certain goals. I planned for months that I would treat myself to something at the Chanel store at South Coast Plaza when I lost 75 pounds. My dear friends, Allison and Meredith, came shopping with me and it was an awesome celebration of my hard work. We selected this pin because of its versatility. It can be worn alone, added to a necklace, headband, hat, scarf, etc. Each time I wear it I am reminded of how much better I feel being healthy and fit.

Homework: What would you buy yourself for a prize?

Dress Code: Sunday afternoon jewelry party

imageMy dear friend Michele invited me over to her Stella and Dot trunk show party on Sunday afternoon. I thought it was the perfect opportunity to debut my new white boyfriend jeans from The Gap. I am in love with these jeans. It doesn’t hurt that they were 40% off last weekend and only cost about $40. They are so versatile and comfortable. Today, I paired them with a fun top I bought at the Juicy Couture outlet in Carlsbad, California. It was only $13. I know that Juicy is usually for a much younger customer, as one of my students once told me, but I always find a gem or two whenever I pop into the outlet store. I piled on the bangles, including my new nail bracelet, a belated birthday gift, and added my favorite Tory Burch sandals. The finishing touch was my Chanel sunnies… just a little over the top with the bows on each side. Good grief, I love a good bow!

imageP.S. Here is proof from People Stylewatch  that that I am #ontrend with my white jeans…

imageP.P.S. I love my Stella and Dot purchases. I ordered a tassel necklace and red leopard scarf. You might see the scarf as a bathing suit cover up in a couple of weeks!

Homework: What is your favorite Sunday afternoon outfit?

Dress Code: On Wednesday’s we wear pearls

imageI have always loved pearls! Almost all old pictures of me from high school and college, show me in pearls. Something things never change, the more pearls, the better! Coco Chanel is my inspiration and that’s why I pile on the pearls. This necklace is a super long strand from C. Wonder. Today I’m wearing it as a triple strand. The black striped sweater dress from Banana Republic is the perfect backdrop for this awesome necklace. I finished the look with a pearl ring made from a vintage Chanel button and a five-strand pearl bracelet that I have had forever. I also added my C. Wonder pearl stud earrings to complete the look. I felt fabulous in this outfit!

Homework: Are pearls your thing?
