Dress Code: Working my new midi skirt

imageToday, I wanted to wear my new black pleated midi skirt that I bought at the Banana Republic outlet for $20. Get used to it, because I will be wearing it a lot this season! This type of skirt can be unflattering for my body type. It’s all about choosing the right shirt. It can’t be too long or too short, and it needs to fitted in order to be flattering. I decided to wear my new favorite skirt with a black and white stripped sleeveless t-shirt from Old Navy and bright yellow short-sleeved cardigan from Ann Taylor Loft. I finished the outfit with my Tory Burch leopard and lace pumps and a huge black ribbon and rhinestone statement necklace from Banana Republic.

Dress Code: On Wednesday’s we wear pearls, pearls, and more pearls!

imageLast week our school photographer was on campus for three days taking school pictures. My goal was to take a picture each day and then pick the best one. Sadly, I missed my window of opportunity each day. Today, was the make up picture day, so I needed a fabulous outfit that would look great for my one take. I decided to go for a classic look with an LBD and pearls. I wore my black shirt-sleeved shift dress from Anthropology and then piled on the pearls. My long C. Wonder pearl necklace is extremely versatile. Today, I’m wearing it as a triple stand with another pearl necklace with a bow detail from Ann Taylor Loft. I added some stretchy pearl bracelets from Forever 21 my vintage Chanel button ring, and my C. Wonder pearl stud earrings.

Homework: What would you wear on picture day?

Dress Code: Coral and stripes and everything nice!

imageWe are still experiencing a heat wave and it is sooooooo hot! My short sleeved cardigans come in handy when the heat is rising. They keep me cool and covered up. Today, I wore a coral short-sleeved cardigan from Ann Taylor Loft with a black and white striped a-line pleated dress from Banana Republic. The best part of this dress is that it has pockets! To kick the outfit up a notch, I added a coral statement necklace from Banana Republic and it matched the cardigan perfectly! My Coach wedges finished off the look. This dress makes a very bold statement, so I don’t wear it very often. When I do wear it, I always get compliments.

Homework: what would you wear to work during a heat wave?

Dress Code: Showing my school spirit in pearls and plaid!

imageSpirit days at my school are so much fun! Each grade level is assigned a class color: red, white, or blue. Since I represent all grades, I always wear all three colors. So, I decided to recycle my 4th of July shirt and pearls combo. I wore a red, white, and blue plaid shirt from Banana Republic with navy khaki pants from Gap. My navy Cole Hahn wedges were perfect for a day that involved a ton of steps and running around. To jazz up the outfit, I piled on my long pearls from C. Wonder(worn as a triple strand) and a pearl bow necklace from Ann Taylor Loft. Pearls and plaid are a fabulous combination!

Homework: How would you incorporate red, white, and blue into a spirit day outfit?

Dress Code: I was a very busy bee!

imageI am in love with this hot pink, bee print tank top! It is just too cute! I bought it recently for $20 at the Banana Republic outlet. I wore it with my favorite black leather skirt from Anthropology and my trusty Coach wedges. My only accessory was my Kate Spade initial necklace. I topped the tank with a bright yellow short-sleeved cardigan from Ann Taylor Loft. The cardigan picked up the colors from the bee print and created quite the cheery color combination.

Dress Code: On Wednesday’s we wear polka dots and Popsicles!

imageI bought this black dress with tan polka dots this past weekend at the Ann Taylor factory store at the Outlets at Orange. It was a steal at $25 and the cut is super flattering. Plus, I love that it has a thick sash/bow that defines my waist. It’s a great weekend sundress that can be worn with sandals, and with pumps and a cardigan, it’s completely work appropriate. For work today, I wore it with a short-sleeved coral cardigan from Ann Taylor Loft and my orange Kate Spade Popsicle necklace. The Popsicle necklace is a perfect reminder of a fantastic summer. Remember, I won the money to buy this necklace on a Sex and the City penny slot machine at Casino Morango. My Cole Hahn black and tan spectator wedges were the finishing touch, as they matched the dress and with the built in Nike Air technology, they are very comfortable. This outfit came together at the last minute and made me smile today!

Homework: What’s your best summer memory?

Dress Code: Eyelet and leopard meets party fuchsia

imageHere’s a super cute and casual outfit for running errands and lunching or brunching with friends. Yes, I’m still obsessed with my $17 H&M leopard “MC Hammer” pants. They are so comfortable… Seriously, it’s like wearing your pajamas in public! When my friend Stephanie bought her “Hammer” pants last year, I teased her saying it was a slippery slope, maybe she would get too comfortable. Now, I can’t stop wearing mine. I take it all back! To dress up my public pj’s, I added an ivory eyelet t-shirt from the Ann Taylor Loft sale rack and my new favorite Tory Burch “party fuchsia” Reva’s. You are going to be seeing a lot of these shoes. I love them and at $145 they were a great deal at the Desert Hills outlet! I kept the accessories simple by only adding a two-toned pink bangle from Forever 21 and my C. Wonder pink gem studs. It’s the perfect daytime, running around town outfit.

Homework: Would you wear “Hammer” pants?

Dress Code: Outlet shopping in style!

imageLast week I spent two days in the desert with two of my college sorority sisters. We thought it would be fun to hit the Desert Hills outlets and spend the night at Casino Morongo. We had a great time! We picked up a few really good deals and shared a ton of laughs.

On day one of shopping, I wore my favorite Bitten seersucker pants. They are lightweight and perfect for the desert heat. I wore them with a $5 black tube top I bought last week at H&M. The tube top was perfect for trying on clothes. In most stores I just put tops and sweaters over the tube top, which made for quick shopping since I didn’t have to go into the dressing room! My black Tory Burch sandals and my new Kate Spade initial necklace completed the outfit. I added my trusty beach market fedora after we were done shopping.

On day two of shopping, I wore my Joe’s boyfriend jeans with an eyelet top from Old Navy. I wore a neon pink lace cami under the eyelet top, so, of course, I had to add my Kendra’s Scott necklace. I wore the same sandals and hat with this outfit. It was actually a little cold this day, so this outfit was perfect.

I bought two pairs of Tory Burch flats at the TB outlet… One pair of party fuchsia Reva’s and a pair of nude patent leather bow flats. I’m in love with both pairs of shoes!

I bought a ton of cardigans! I added three more short-sleeved cardigans from Ann Taylor Loft to my collection. They were only $15 each. I bought a yellow, red, and another black one, since I’ve worn the heck out of the one I have! The J. Crew outlet had the best deals. Everything on the sale rack was an additional 60% off. That
means $12 cardigans and a few other good deals. Banana Republic is usually a gold mine at the outlets. I found a couple of things, but overall was disappointed.

imageI won $70 playing penny slots at the casino, so on day two, I went back to the Kate Spade outlet to buy two bracelets and a necklace… They were free with my winnings!

I try to hit the outlets a few times a year. I never know what I will find! I try to be smart and not get carried away just because something is cheap. I really
liked that we had all day on Wednesday to shop and then we went back for a quick trip on Thursday to buy the things we were still thinking about! We would also have had an opportunity to return purchases we regretted… That didn’t happen! We were happy with all we bought!

Homework: What would you wear to outlet shop?

Dress Code: On Wednesday’s we wear red, leopard, and pearls!

imageI am in love with my new Tory Burch leopard pumps. When I saw this red dress on the sale rack at Banana Republic for $30, I knew I had to have it to wear with my new favorite shoes. I had a meeting at the district office and a big luncheon to attend, so I needed a special outfit. The red dress was a great find! It’s sleeveless, so I topped it with my black, short-sleeved cardigan from Ann Taylor Loft. I then added a pearl and ribbon necklace that I bought a million years ago at Nordstrom. The leopard pumps were the icing on this cake! Simple pieces, but put together they created a very polished outfit.

Homework: What would you wear with these Tory Burch leopard shoes?

Dress Code: Aloha Friday!

imageMy school is right by the beach, and we actually have a view of the ocean from our campus. Many of my teachers have worked at the school for years, and over time, they adopted an Aloha Friday tradition. They wear Hawaiian shirts every Friday. I’m not really a Hawaiian shirt kind of gal, so I was so excited when I found this Hawaiian inspired floral bomber jacket at Forever 21. It was $21 and perfect for Aloha Friday. I paired the jacket with an ivory eyelet t-shirt from Loft that added some texture to the outfit and a simple black pencil skirt. I added a rhinestone floral necklace from Ann Taylor and my Coach wedges to complete the look. Aloha!
