I love how this outfit came together, and it follows the fashion philosophy of Stacy and Clinton from TLC’s “What Not to Wear.” Stacy and Clinton always emphasized that an outfit should include texture, pattern and shine. I loved that show and really miss it! Today’s outfit is in their honor…
I recently bought this cute red top at the Banana Republic outlet and it was only $12. I wore it with my black leather Anthropology skirt (shine) and my black quilted cardigan from Nordstrom (texture). I then added my leopard and lace Tory Burch pumps (pattern). I finished the look with a couple of bracelets, including a leopard wrap bracelet from Charming Charlie (pattern) and a few Kate Spade bangles, and my black quilted patent leather Tory Burch tote bag (texture and shine).
Homework: How would you mix texture, pattern and shine?
I eyed this Bauble Bar statement necklace at Nordstrom for the last couple of months… and now it’s mine.
Funny story, I went to Nordstrom last weekend to return two bracelets that I bought during the summer Anniversary Sale. The bracelets were really cute, but would not stay closed. I thought I paid the sale price of $17.99 for each bracelet, but when the sales associate looked up my purchase, it turned out I paid $28 for each bracelet. This amazing Bauble Bar statement necklace was on sale for $30, and since I returned the two bracelets, it was technically FREE! Yay!
I wanted to wear this necklace with something fun, so of course, I pulled out my favorite Gap camo khakis. I paired them with a black tunic from Brass Plum at Nordstrom and my Coach wedges. I added a few Kate Spade bracelets and I was ready for a great day.
I’ve been waiting almost a year to wear this graphic t-shirt! I found this anti-drug muscle t-shirt at Forever 21 last year, about a week after Red Ribbon Week, an annual event in October that promotes a healthy lifestyle and no drug use. It was on $12.99 and I had to have it! I knew I would wear it the day of our Red Ribbon assembly. I decided to wear the shirt with my H & M leopard print “Hammer” pants and a vintage Classiques black blazer from Nordstrom. It was a fun outfit with a great message!
Homework: Do you have a favorite graphic t-shirt?
This dress is one of my favorite purchases from the Gap. It was on sale and a great deal. It’s very simple and super comfortable. It’s perfect for a busy morning when I need to get ready quickly after my morning workout. I threw it on in a hurry and added my Kate Spade orange Popsicle pendant necklace. My navy Cole Hahn wedges completed the look. I love that the Popsicle necklace perfectly matches the bottom stripe on the dress.
Homework: What is your favorite fall color block look?
Today was all about the accessories! I wore my black and white, geometric print pleated skirt from Banana Republic with my black and gold studded Michael Kor’s t-shirt. Then I started piling on a ton of fun jewelry. I liked the way yesterday’s necklaces looked, so I found three more to wear together. I started with a long gold mini tassel necklace from C. Wonder, then added a single tassel pendant necklace from Ann Taylor, and finished the look with a vintage Chanel button charm that I bought at a Christmas boutique. The bracelets came next! I started with my hot pink, Kate Spade leather bow bracelet for a pop if color. A few more Kate Spade bangles and a multi-strand leather and chain bracelet from Forever 21 created the perfect arm party! Lots of accessories for a fun day!
Today, I wore a really simple navy and maroon jersey striped dress that I recently bought at the Gap factory store at the Carlsbad outlet mall. The dress was only $30 and it’s a great grab and go option. It’s perfect for mornings when I need to get ready at the gym, since it doesn’t wrinkle and will roll up nicely in my gym bag. Since the dress is rather plain, I decided to play with necklaces of varying lengths. I wore three of my favorites and I think they really compliment one another. I layered my Kate Spade “one in a million” initial disk necklace with my Coach heart locket, and my C. Wonder “H” script necklace. I love the way the necklaces make the dress stand out! Now I’m looking at all my necklaces and trying to figure out other combinations to layer together.

I wear my leopard “MC” Hammer pants from H & M on days I know are going to be super busy. They are so comfortable, almost like pajamas! Today, I wore them with a simple black tunic from the Brass Plum at Nordstrom and my Coach wedges. If I wear these pants with flats, they look really casual. As soon as I add a heel or wedge, it instantly dresses up the pants and makes them appropriate for work. To complete my look for the school day, I added my hot pink Kendra Scott tassel necklace and a hot pink Kate Spade bangle bracelet. If I’m wearing leopard and black, I almost always add hot pink as an accent color. It’s such a fun color combination!
I spent the weekend at Disneyland. It’s an annual tradition with some of my best friends(this was our 8th year). On Saturday, we spent the entire day at California Adventure. It was so much fun! We went on all the best rides and enjoyed all the tourist traps. Soarin’ Over California is my absolute favorite ride in the park. We ended the day watching World of Color, and it was amazing, as usual. On Sunday morning, we headed to Downtown Disney and had brunch at the Jazz Kitchen. The chicken and waffles was to die for!
Now on to my outfits…
On Saturday, I wore my Joe’s boyfriend jeans with my black and white heart print tank top from Banana Republic. I just added my straw fedora, a black and white animal print cross body purse, and Tory Burch sandals.
On Sunday, I continued with the black and white theme and wore my white Gap boyfriend jeans with a black flower embellished tank from Banana Republic. I added the same accessories to this outfit… shoes, hat and purse. It made packing super easy!
I wish I had a picture of the outfit I wore down to the hotel bar on Saturday night. I didn’t pack an extra outfit for the evening and I had been in my Disney ensemble for about 15 hours. I had to get out of my jeans! I only had my black Gap pajamas… Well, I wore them with confidence. No one even knew they were pajamas, because they look like loungewear and I added some fun jewelry to dress up the ensemble, black pants and a tank top. It was a make it work moment!
I am in love with this black and white striped “ciao” sweater from the Banana Republic outlet. The day I was there, everything in the store was 50% off, so the sweater was only $25. It’s so cute and versatile. Today, I layered it with my Gap denim work shirt and my black leather Anthropolgy skirt. I always have to have more than one pattern in the mix, so my leopard and lace Tory Butch pumps added just the right amount of interest to the outfit. A few bracelets, including a Charming Charlie leopard wrap and Banana Republic red enamel bangle, were the finishing touches.
This sweater works well for work, but will also look adorable with jeans and my leopard ballet flats.
Homework: It’s Friday, take the night off!
I have been eyeing this orange tassel necklace for months, and on Saturday I finally bought it. Sometimes you need a little pick me up! This necklace was $25 and I found it at my hair salon, Parks Salon in Laguna Niguel. I really needed to give my hot pink Kendra Scott tassel necklace a rest! This necklace also came in yellow and pink. I decided the bright orange color would be the most versatile for me and my wardrobe. I planned today’s outfit around this new necklace. I wore it with a leather- trimmed black sheath dress from Banana Republic and my neon pink J. Crew cardigan. I love mixing orange and hot pink together! It’s one of my favorite color combinations.
Homework: What would you wear with a bright orange tassel necklace?
